EthnoAtlas

EthnoAtlas is a web based application to work with the Standard Sample (SCS) World Cultures database compiled by G P Murdock and Douglas R. White. Only that portion of many SCCS datasets (numbering 2000+ variables) that come from Murdocks (1967) Ethnographic Atlas proper are included in the data for EthnoAtlas. Using EthnoAtlas you can manipulate cross-cultural quantitative data in multiple ways. It provides a coloring of cells relative to the quantities in the cells, e.g., number of cases.  For the coloring to be useful in finding correlations or curvilinear trends you also have to click [ ] expected and look at the coloring excess values over those expected.

[Formerly there was a version of the program loaded with the complete Ethnographic Atlas of 1270 societies that was replaced with the 168 society SCCS selective version of the database. If that 1270 society version could be found, both versions could be offered for analysis -- co-editor D. White]
